Join the American Heart Association’s FINAL NHCI PCA webinar on November 15th, 2023 from 1:00-2:00 (CST)/ 2:00-3:00 (EST), focused our journey and reflections from the past three years.

We are excited to announce the participation of the following speakers:

  • Chief Gary Batton - Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma
  • Rashmita Subedi, MPH, BSN - Public Health Analyst/ Project Officer, Office of Minority Health
  • Cheryl J. Thompson - Public Health Analyst/ Team Lead, Health Resources and Services Administration
  • Ashley Colwell and Naila Quraishi – Illinois Primary Health Care Association

In addition, Dr. Eduardo Sanchez, NHCI Principal Investigator and AHA Chief Medical Officer for Prevention and Pamela Garmon Johnson, NHCI Executive Director and AHA National VP for Health Equity & Partnerships will join the conversation to share their valuable insights as we recognize the outstanding contributions of PCAs and CHCs.

Objectives:

  • Illuminate the evolution and impact of the National Hypertension Control Initiative (NHCI).
  • Offer insight into how the American Heart Association local teams, Primary Care Associations (PCAs) and Community Health Centers (CHCs) may continue local efforts to control blood pressure and improve cardiovascular disease rates.
  • Highlight the American Heart Association’s commitment to health equity through partnerships with CHCs and PCAs

National Hypertension Control Initiative Purpose:

To improve hypertension control and COVID-19 outcomes in health centers and communities across the U.S. with a particular focus on populations disproportionately impacted by hypertension (i.e. Black, Hispanic, American Indian and Alaskan Natives) through broad scale, multi-sector, culturally sensitive and diverse evidence-based interventions, including Self Measured Blood Pressure monitoring (SMBP).​
