Your Health Idaho Ranked Among Nation's Best Insurance Marketplaces

According to analysis done by the conservative Heritage Foundation and reported by The Post Register, Your Health Idaho is among the nation’s best insurance exchanges. Analysis shows that Your Health Idaho consumers have more choice, and insurers face more competition, than in any other state except Massachusetts.

While the article erroneously states that no insurers have left the exchange (Regence will no longer sell their BridgeSpan products for plan year 2018), last year there were at least four insurers to choose from in each of Idaho’s 44 counties. The article compares this to Wyoming where consumers have only one insurer.

Another reason identified for the exchange’s success is the strong reliance on insurance agents and brokers to assist consumers with enrollment and plan selection.

In this article the number of enrollments reported is 106,000 which is not the effectuated number (meaning the consumer made a payment for the first month), but the initial enrollment number. Effectuated enrollments were a little over 95,000 as of June 2017.

Idaho’s exchange has consistently outperformed other exchanges since the first open enrollment in 2013. Go Idaho!
