POSITION TITLE:        Practice Manager II

RESPONSIBLE TO:     CNO/CQO/COO

FLSA STATUS:            Exempt

 

Purpose of this Position: The Practice Manager II (PMII) will manage the daily operations of a VFHC Clinic(s), assuring high-quality team-based patient care is consistently delivered in a safe and efficient manner specific to the needs of the population served, while practicing to current regulatory standards, best practices, and VFHC policies and procedures.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in business management, business or healthcare administration, nursing or other related field is required. Current RN license is preferred.
  2. Must hold current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS card (healthcare provider), and if RN or LPN, must obtain AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 6 months of hire and maintain current going forward.
  3. Minimum of 5 to 7 years previous family practice medical office experience, or equivalent, is required. At least two years of leadership experience is required.
  4. Must be accurate, exacting, and orderly in work detail; able to multitask, and able to maintain a calm and confident presence in a chaotic work environment.
  5. Demonstrate a “can-do” spirit, a sense of optimism, ownership, and commitment.
  6. Neat, professional appearance with a pleasant and positive manner.
  7. Able to lead utilizing a team-based model.
  8. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  9. Must have good computer skills.    

    

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ensure efficient daily operations of assigned clinic(s) and oversee all employees assigned to the clinic; deliver dependable, team based, high quality patient care; and successful accomplishment of VFHC goals, mission and objectives.
  2. Manage the complexity of a large staff and multiple service lines, while keeping in line with the overall objectives of the clinic and organization.
  3. Lead recruiting, interviewing and hiring of new employees.
  4. Work closely with Nursing Lead; ensure staff are appropriately trained to, and follow job duties according to VFHC processes, standards, governing boards, and pertinent practice acts; continually qualify and act as a knowledgeable resource.
  5. Lead development of improved workflows and processes and ensure successful implementation.
  6. Evaluate clinic employee performance; manage coaching and discipline and patient complaints.
  7. Manage Clinic Budget and participate in Monthly Operations Review.
  8. Ensure immunization program led by Nursing Lead is properly administered, according to Idaho and Oregon immunization rules and procedures.
  9. Motivate staff and create an environment where all employees thrive.
  10. Evaluate employee performance to encourage satisfactory work.
  11. Demonstrate confidence in employees, delegate tasks according to the clinic’s needs.
  12. Cultivate an environment that helps employees hold themselves and one another accountable for their actions.
  13. Use excellent problem-solving skills to develop solutions to daily challenges and conflicts that arise in the workplace; address performance issues in a timely and appropriate manner following VFHC’s policies and procedures.
  14. Lead monthly staff meetings to communicate needed information and build unity within your team.
  15. Develop schedule for nursing and provider staff, ensure adequate staffing and clinic productivity.
  16. Assist in preparing financial budgets for your areas of responsibility.
  17. Effectively communicate necessary information with all employees under your responsibility and to direct supervisors.
  18. Work with Nursing Lead and Quality Department to resolve quality issues and meet assigned metrics.
  19. Participate in Clinic Leadership meetings and projects, and ad hoc teams or committees, as appropriate.
  20. Function as a mentor to other Practice Managers; help develop and fulfill their roles as requested by leadership.
  21. Travel among different locations of Valley Family, local and possible overnight travel for meetings and conferences outside of Valley Family.
  22. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or administrative leaders.

 

Physical Requirements:

  1. Able to lift up to 25 lbs. frequently.
  2. Continual standing, walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, stretching, lifting.
  3. Normal manual dexterity with proficient keyboarding skills.
  4. Correctable vision and hearing.
  5. Local and overnight travel may occur, as needed
